Saint James the Apostle School

This past Friday was our 8th grade Pinning Mass and Breakfast.  Our 8th graders took over the readings and brought up the gifts.  They also received their 8th grade pins at this time.  This is a long-standing tradition in Catholic Schools.  It also is the first event in a long line of events which will mark the students’ last year with us as they prepare to move on to high school.  After the Mass the 8th grade along with their families and the entire staff of the school moved to Doherty Hall for a breakfast.  Our thanks to our many parents who watched over the rest of the classes in order to allow our teachers to attend the breakfast.  Our congratulations to the following 8th graders and their families:

Tickets are now on sale for our Card Party which will be held October 24th.  The Card Party is coming back to the school which is making it more affordable for everyone.  This is a great opportunity to go out with your friends for the evening and perhaps walk away with some wonderful prizes.  It is a night filled with a lot of laughs and just a really good time.  Tickets can be purchased at the school.  We anticipate a sell out so don’t hesitate to purchase tickets as soon as possible.

Our first field trip of the year was taken by our grades PreK-4.  The children journeyed to Barton’s Farm to pick pumpkins, go on a hay ride and enjoy all of the beauty that autumn has to offer.  As you know, we are huge supporters of the “outdoor classroom” and try to get the children into the community and beyond as much as possible.  Teaching opportunities occur both inside and out of school and we make it our business to take advantage of all that surrounds us.

We have a few more spots left in the afternoon session of our half day PreK program.  If you are thinking of getting your 3 or 4 year old out for a few hours a day to learn and play with others before the big separation of Kindergarten take some time to visit our program.   We are very proud of our Prek programs and enjoy a wonderful reputation in the community.

At Saint James the Apostle School we provide a wonderful education for the children.  We are, however, very different than the schools in our community because we educate in the faith.  We weave our Catholic faith in all that we do on a daily basis, ensuring that our students are Catholic students who grow into practicing Catholic adults.   Living as a Catholic is the only path which leads to daily practice as an adult.  We live our faith every moment and manage to excel academically and have fun as well.  What kind of a future would you like for your children as they grow and mature, making decisions that will affect the rest of our lives?
