It is Tuesday, September 2nd, and we have officially opened our doors for the 2008-2009 school year. We are very happy to have the children back with us and are pleased to see so many new faces. The children have gotten taller and seem ready for the year ahead.
We are very excited about our new science lab. Kenny Ermann, one of our alumni, graciously chose to build a lab in Mrs. Glaviano’s science room as his Eagle Scout project. We are very grateful to Kenny and wish him well as he begins his college adventure. A big thanks to Mr. Glaviano who came in during the summer to repaint all of our lab tables.
Our thanks to Alan, Roc and Eddie as well as all of our alumni who worked so hard on the school over the summer. We love the shiny floors that September brings! A thank you as well to Mr. Curry and his group of volunteers who painted the gym. Because of their contribution as well as those who support the Bicentennial Campaign we have a brand new gym for the use of our school, CYO and the rest of our Parish events. The gym is just an example of how much our Bicentennial pledges are going towards some real projects that benefit all of us at Saint James the Apostle and Our Lady of the Lake.
As we begin another school year we would like to thank everyone in our Parish for their continued support. We would not be here another year without the Parish behind us. As many schools face the financial challenges of this economy we still stand strong due to the commitment of everyone in Saint James and Our Lady of the Lake. Our community recognizes the importance of a faith based education and we have no doubt that if vouchers were available we would have to build another wing of the school. Our thanks to Father Sorgie as well who is our constant supporter. His love for the school is as visible as the message he put out for all to see as he welcomed back our children for this school year. He is proud of or school, the teachers, our parents and of course, our children.
Please join us each Friday at the 9am Mass. We also invite you to come to our school and see what’s new and how well we do what we do. Our school is here to stay and will continue to work towards educating academically and spiritually children such as Kenny Ermann and Ryan Cunningham who keep us in their hearts long after they leave us.
