Saint James the Apostle School

This year our full day PreK program filled very quickly.  We have not had a half day program in quite a few years and felt that there was a place for it in our school.  Last year we launched our new half day program and to our delight we have filled our morning session.  Our half day program is under the direction of Miss Maria Albano who is a certified teacher and presently working on her Masters Degree in literacy.  Working with Miss Albano is Mrs. Kristine Mandara.  We did not have a space for the program last year and felt strongly we wanted the program on site.  This gives the children a chance to become a part of our school community and participate in many of the activities we host during the school year.  In addition, Father Sorgie, Father Vincent and Father John are able to easily peek in on the children giving them the opportunity to get to know our parish priests.  After much consideration we thought that the Religious Education building was our best bet.  After a wonderful conversation with the ever supportive Dr. Bovino we forged ahead.  Last week we opened our doors to our new students who will be learning and growing in our new half day center.

We still have a few spots open in the afternoon session.  Some children are not ready for a full day at 3 and 4 years old.  Some parents are not ready to let go so soon.  A half day program gives the children an opportunity to begin to separate and socialize while learning in a community and it gives Moms a few hours to shop, clean or just read a book.  It is just a nice fit for many families.  If you are at all interested in a bit of PreK please call the school.  You are more than welcome to come by and see our beautiful new room and spend a little time observing our program.  We suspect that the afternoon will fill up before the end of the month.

Our annual Chocolate Bar Sale has begun.  We hope that you will support our families as they do their part to support our school.  With the stress of gas and fuel prices a little chocolate bar goes a long way.  Think of it as a mini vacation!

We have begun collecting Boxtops again.  Please save your boxtops and send them over to the school.  This year we were able to purchase much needed maps for the classrooms with our Boxtop money.

Our school will be at the 9am Mass on Friday, September 12, 19 and 26.  We hope you are able to join us.
