Saint James the Apostle School

I continually boast about our children in our parish bulletin.  They are always giving us many reasons to be proud of them.  Although we continue to hear such wonderful things about our students as they move through high school, college and beyond, there are always exceptional stories to share.  One such story is Michael Cunningham’s.  Michael, an Iona Prep senior this past school year was the top scholarship winner at Iona’s 57th banquet at the Rye Town Hilton honoring the weekly Scholar-Athlete winners of Con Edison’s Westchester Scholastic Sports Award program.  Michael received the $10,000 Irwin “Red” Klein scholarship.  Michael, who is also the class valedictorian, scored 2370 on his SAT-800 verbal, 800 writing, and 770 math.  Michael is also an Eagle Scout, president of the National Honor Society and tutors other students.  On the track, Michael earned all-state and all-America honors while helping Iona win the Westchester County winter and spring championships.  Michael says that he learned a long time ago that in the classroom he goes all out all the time, never feeling he is finished and has applied this strategy in sports.  We are very proud of Michael and would like to think that some of his success comes from the start he got here at Saint James the Apostle School.

Our congratulations to Michael and his family!
