| On March 25, 1975 the Daughters
of the American Revolution in collaboration with the United
States Postal Service held a ceremony in the St. James
School to commemorate the first day issue of this stamp in
honor of Sybil Ludington. |

| Lake Gleneida covers almost 168
acres and is more than 100 feet deep in some areas. The ice
age glaciers are responsible for its great depths.

| This lake was known as Shaw's
Pond prior to December 1852. After considerable debate, the
town changed the lake's official name to Lake Gleneida. In
the following years, a few more area lakes underwent name
changes as well. |
