Lake Gleneida in Carmel, NY
Lake Gleneida covers almost 168 acres and is more than 100 feet deep in some areas. The ice age glaciers are responsible for its great depths.

Lake Gleneida
This lake was known as Shaw's Pond prior to December 1852. After considerable debate, the town changed the lake's official name to Lake Gleneida. In the following years, a few more area lakes underwent name changes as well.
